Nokomis is a proprietary project by an American knife and outdoor enthusiast Steve Mewes produced by QSP Knife. The contribution of the designer is noticeable not only in the shape  of a knife but also in its name which refers to the city associated with Mewes himself.

The cooperation between the designer and the contractor resulted in the creation of a knife with a rather slim silhouette with a wharncliffe blade with a rather narrow engraving. It is a construction that will meet many everyday task, help in precise cutting and also cope with large overloads during stinging, puncturing, etc., so opening and cutting eg. cardboard boxes will be really easy. In addition, even with vigorous and less careful work we can feel safer thanks to the use of a strong frame lock. Nokomis will also do well in the forest, where its straight cutting edge will be perfect for eg. planing.

Nokomis is a QSP folding Knife dedicated for everyday use EDC (Every Day Carry) and field trips.

 

Strong blade

The blade has a flat grind and was derived in the wharncliffe style. This design is ideal for cutting on flat surfaces due to the easy possibility of pressing a straight cutting edge to the material being cut. In addition, this type of blade enables easy handling and control of the engraving, which is very useful during cuts requiring precision. The back has crimping (jimping) to facilitate applying pressure with your thumb while making cuts. The blade made of very good 8CR14MOV stainless steel  which retains excellent cutting properties and is easy to sharpen.

Smooth opening and solid lock

The knife is opened with a double-sided thumb stub (for right- and left-handed people). Smooth blade extension is enabled by copper washers wrapping them along the main axis of the knife ( bearing at the point where the blade is connected to the handle). The knife has a stable and durable protection against accidental frame lock closing. The lock is known for its robustness, which in the case of the Nokomis knife is used for energetic cuts and punctures  (eg. opening cartons) and is an additional factor increasing safety during work.

Durable handle

On one hand, the knife is equipped with a handle lining made of durable black  G10 composite fibre with a anti-skid and rough form for a stable grip. On the other hand, we are dealing with a steel cover whose integral part is a frame lock. The handle has been profiled in a way that limits the risk of sliding your hand on the blade during operation, which reduces the risk of potential injuries.

Stable carrying

The knife is equipped with a steel clip, ensuring stable carrying in your pocket, backpack, organizer etc. An hole above the clip allows additional threading, paracord etc. Both of these elements serve as protection against possible loss of the knife.

Warranty

 

QSP knives are covered by a limited warranty. This warranty provides protection against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to both the knife and its sheath. If the product covered by this warranty fails due to a manufacturing defect we will repair it without charge, or replace it, at our discretion. Only original, unaltered and unmodified items are covered by this warranty.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, improper care, negligence, normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown of colors and materials over an extended period of time and use.

Maintenance

  1. Don’t use the edge to cut hard object such as stone, steel tube….
  2. Don’t use the knife as a lever.
  3. Please follow the local and international laws in using QSP knife.
  4. Please wipe it by soft cloth after used, and store in dry place.
  5. Please sharpen the knife properly with correct techniques.

His physiognomy draws attention to the characteristic colours of its plumage, which is reflected in the knife handle. The QSP Knife Worker was designed by a German bushcrafter Arthura Brehm. Thanks to the cooperation of the contractor and the user, a very interesting everyday knife was designed. The appearance of the knife is strongly associated with the traditional "pocket-knife" still used by our grandparents. Although modern materials were used in the construction and the styling is "smiling" towards contemporaniety, we feel a pleasantly associated breath of the past. Despite the fact that the knife was equipped with a blade made of modern Böhler N690 steel and the handle linings were made of the G10 composite, the appearance and features were designed in a coherent and thoughtful way, combining tradition and modernity. The evidence supporting this is for example the slightly outlined wood rings visible on the covers, or the traditional way of opening and blocking the blade (indentation on the blade and back lock). The Worker is named as it is for a reason. This is a knife that is supposed to work, at home as well as in a forest, it has to fit into a jeans pocket, but is also to be a perfect complement to the equipment worn by bushcraft combatants.
