Bona Knives Frontier Smooth Antler knife is an inseparable companion of a forest tramp and a great proposition for collectors of extraordinary blades.
Bona Knives – The Art Of Harmony
For many years, Bona Knives has been creating extraordinary knives that have the character of talismans for many of their users. The knives and sheaths designed by the knifemaker have many executive nuances that we can pick up over time, and we can only guess the meanings of some of them. In Marcin Bona’s Art of Harmony, every detail is “for something”! This makes communing with its products and “discovering” them every day an amazing adventure in itself. Bona Knives – Marcin Bona apart from the product, provides inspiration, a story and a coherent concept. It is not without reason that many consider his works to be cult.
About presented execution od Frontier knife
Universal blade
The knife blade, profiled in the drop point style, with a flat grind, in use is very effective and recommended for all types of work. The NCV1 steel used as the core of the structure is characterized by good sharpness. One of its most important features is very high fracture resistance, hence it is eagerly used in bushcraft knives. This steel is easy to sharpen, which is undoubtedly an advantage when there is a need to perform this activity in the field. The edges of the spine of the blade are sharply finished (but not so cut that it is easy to cut yourself), allowing you to work efficiently with the flint.
The finish of the blade (chaotic satin, random oxidation, roughness of the amphibian) made in an original way by a knifemaker, apart from the unique visual effect, has the advantage that it fits perfectly with the traces of use of the blade. The Frontier knife is designed in such a way that the signs of wear on it give it a taste and individual character, and finally they fit “as if they were meant to be” from the beginning.
The Frontier knife has a full-tang construction, the strongest construction found in knives. The knife tang extends over the entire handle to which the covers are attached.
Handle from deer antlers
The handle, made of deer antlers, dyed brown, is different in each Frontier version. The pores and cavities visible on it are completely natural, they were not “lost” during the refinement of the handle. The covers are permanently attached to the steel core. They are glued and attached with decorative pins. At the junction of the handle with the blade, a natural leather wrapper was made. The wrapper specially prepared by the creator is as hard as the rest of the handle, it is tight and resistant to weather conditions. The wrapper, in addition to the decorative function, has the function of “handle – safety controller”. Namely, when we hold the knife in our hand, we feel roughness under our fingers and this roughness marks the border between the handle and the blade. For a user “tame” with his knife, it is an additional safety feature that prevents the hand from sliding over the cutting edge and prevents hand injuries in this way.
