Description
MK Knives & Tools Crowbar “Wood Spirit” knife is a knife designed for the needs of extreme survival.
With a powerful blade mounted on a 9 mm impressive tang and a total length of 320 mm, it will cope with extreme off-road tasks. It will effectively replace an ax when chipping wood. Felling smaller trees, chopping limbs, baring larger pieces will not be a problem for him. Clearing up, clearing the area for the camp (machete function) are also tasks that it can fully cope with. Crowbar knife (MK-06) is a universal knife you can rely on for heavier work, but also for more subtle tasks like slicing, cutting, etc.
About knifemaking standards and process at MK Knives & Tools
Knifemaker Marcin Kampka does not accept compromises. Each of his products is planned down to the smallest detail, each project, especially a custom one, must have individual features. Each knife must have a perfect finish, sawing, chamfering etc. All screws – even the smallest ones, are slightly chamfered to remove angular finishes. Each knife is treated as a separate unit and so is the holster. One must match the other, the patterns on the holster must be consistent with the patterns on the handles etc. By inspecting each MK Knives & Tools knife, we not only see the product, but also “feel” the hours spent in the workshop. When buying a product by Marcin Kampka, we buy many hours of his work. We can be sure that the knife has been pampered down to the smallest detail.
About the presented version of Crowbar “Wood Spirit” knife
Durable steel as the core of the knife construction
The presented Crowbar is made of one piece of Vanadis 4 Extra steel. So it is a full-tang knife. It is an extremely hard and durable steel resistant to overload, abrasion and chipping, known for its amazing sharpness. Due to its properties, steel is often used in the production of tactical knives intended for work in various, often extreme conditions. The knife has been coated with a black PVD titanium coating which additionally strengthens the steel and improves anti-corrosion properties. The coating has anti-reflective properties. For an even better visual effect, the blade has been finished with the stonewash method in the proprietary MK Knives & Tools variety.
Grinds and blade shape for effective cutting
The knife blade has been profiled in the drop point style. This design helps to make the best use of the really large blade. It should be noted that the slightly curved design of the knife (arc from the end of the handle to the tip of the blade) in combination with a properly profiled, undercut handle gives the whole a more aggressive character and, if necessary, allows you to better use the force put into a sweeping cut when chopping, for example, a larger piece of wood, etc. A curiosity in the execution of the knife is the innovative hollow grind. It is visible at first glance in the form of characteristic grooves on both the correct blade and the false blade. The concavity of the cut is very subtle and, in addition to the visual effect, is designed to support the cutting process (it reduces the effect of the material sticking to the blade and facilitates splitting of the material).
On the back of the blade there is a jimpig, which makes it easier to press the blade of the knife to the material being cut. This element enables precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge along the material and helps with cuts that require pressure.
Durable, well-concieved knife handle
The slender, neat oval of the handle fits perfectly and lies securely in the hand, its gentle profiling helps to prevent the hand from slipping onto the cutting edge. The rounded ridge protruding on each side of the handle makes the knife comfortable and secure.
The handles with an ergonomic, oval shape are made of a very durable brown G10 composite enriched with a stabilized wood insert and black and brown liners. G10 is resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, has high resistance to mechanical damage. In the presented knife, the material of the covers has a rough pattern that prevents the handle from slipping in the hand. The handle covers have been screwed with steel screws just like the blade covered with a PVD coating. The screws complete the design of the knife, elegantly matching the black blade.
At the end of the knife handle you will find a hidden hole for attaching an additional cord, which can be used as a protection against dropping the knife during operation, or an additional gripper that facilitates removing the knife from the holster. Originally, it includes a paracord section with a shade matched to the design. At the end of the attached paracord section, a leather braid that improves grip and a steel MK bead with a rusty shade.
Refined Holstex® holster and various mounting options
The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Holstex® material with a naturalistic texture, characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals. In the presented model, the holster is made of brown material, supplemented with coyote and black kydex accessories.
The holster can be attached in several ways. We attach it to the belt with a black eyelet made of natural leather. To backpacks, harness elements, MOLLE solutions, we attach it with a string or paracord threaded through the holes in the holster, which can also be used to attach additional accessories (e.g. tinder-box, etc.).

I had been looking for a bigger survival knife something useful/utilitarian and this seemed to have all the answers in one package that really appealed to me visually.
It’s a good useful size but not as ‘big’ as you think…. and it is well balanced and easy going despite that massive 9mm thickness of V4E steel.
It will easily switch between most basic daily bushcrafting tasks (I always want a smaller knife for fine/light work ) and heavier chopping work . That ‘crowbar’ thickess makes a real heavy duty tool if/when you really need it, something to rely on in difficult situations but carefully considered and designed to make it user friendly approachable and useful.
The fit and finish is very good everything is thought out and works together . I found the Kydex sheath to be really excellent.
Overall I’m really happy and this is going to be my primary knife for a long time.
**If you live in UK avoid Fedex unless priority ( recommend DHL or maybe UPS) as anything that goes to Dartford gets lost/held up for days without explanation.**
Service was quick, friendly and helpful . Michal is a genuine knife enthusiast who clearly cares about his customers buying experience and thoughts.
I would not hesitate to buy MK/Kapuga.pl again .
