Description
MK Knives & Tools Nomad “Postapo” knife is a versatile and universal blade. Planned as the first-choice tool for outdoor trips, camping, and extended stays in the wilderness, its modern yet understated design is likely to appeal to a wide range of users. Traditionalists will appreciate its optimal dimensions and shape, which utilize natural hand grooves, while fans of modern solutions will appreciate the materials used in the manufacturing process and the finishing techniques. The Nomad is the knife that would undoubtedly answer the question of which blade to take when you can only choose one tool (to be able to work with it as universally as possible). Among all MK Knives & Tools models, the Nomad can be used in the most versatile manner.
The presented Nomad features a blade made of excellent Elmax steel coated with a black DLC coating. The knife’s blade, with a drop point profile, stands out with a distinctive double grind for better cutting properties. Bilateral fullers distinguish the blade’s spine. The nuances present on the blade are characteristic of the “Postapo” series. The handle scales are made of G10 composite (orange base with black inserts). The set includes a black Holstex sheath with appropriately chosen color accents.
“Postapo” Series – Inspiration Matters
“Postapo” is a series inspired by books, TV shows, movies, and the post-apocalyptic world in general. The “Postapo” series stands out with pictograms in the form of a ‘radiation’ symbol, motivating vigilance and preparedness, as well as a ‘skull in a gas mask’ motif. The skull symbolizing the fleeting nature of human life with a gas mask overlay emphasizes the need for equipment upon which the user can rely in a world changed by dramatic circumstances. Sometimes, survival requires more than just the will to endure!
MK Knives & Tools – Excellence in Knifemaking
MK Knives & Tools – Marcin Kampka. Knife designer and knifemaker. His knives are characterized by outstanding workmanship and exceptional attention to details. Knives with a highly recognizable line, style and colors are great for a variety of tasks: everyday, survival, bushcraft, tactical and general outdoor. In addition to the usable sphere, the visual setting and the variety of workmanship, especially appreciated by collectors, are of great importance in MK projects. Particular attention should be paid to the treatment of each project as a unique whole. Each knife presents its individual features, but holsters also have their distinguishing features. Holsters are finished as carefully as the knives themselves, which strongly distinguishes them in the knife world. The knifemaker approaches his work with patience and full commitment. Especially the first of these features develops while practicing the fishing hobby, because as we know, nothing refreshes the mind as much as a distraction, even a temporary one that will allow you to relax in a different than everyday environment.

Nomad Knife – Versatility and Universality
The Nomad knife is produced from various types of steel (Elmax, Vanax, Vanadis 4 Extra, Vanadis 23, etc.) with different blade finish methods (PVD coatings, DLC, acid-etched, stonewash, satin). The handle is crafted from G10 composite, micarta, carbon fiber (carbon, FatCarbon) with diverse colors and unique patterns meticulously selected by the knifemaker. For each knife made, the knifemaker forms a suitable Kydex sheath (etc.), the color scheme of which (sheath and accessories) matches the colors of the blade and handle to create a cohesive set. The materials used determine the knife’s specific applications. For instance, models with black PVD or DLC coatings and Kydex sheaths in dark colors will certainly appeal to fans of military-tactical solutions, especially considering that all sheaths can be mounted to the MOLLE system, harness elements, or tactical backpacks. On the other hand, designs in more vibrant tones will surely cater to the preferences of hiking and outdoor enthusiasts.
Nomad – When Great Design Meets Excellent Materials
Premium Steel as a Core of the Knife Construction
Presented knife is made of one piece of Elmax steel. It is a knife with a full-tang construction, where the steel runs the entire length and width of the handle to which the covers have been attached. Full-tang construction is the most durable type of construction found in fixed-blade knives.
Elmax premium steel blade has excellent utility features: long-lasting sharpness, stainless steel and reliable durability (high resistance to abrasion, high resistance to mechanical damage).
The knife has been coated with a black DLC titanium coating (Diamond Like Carbon coating with hardness ~90 HRC, maximum in the scale is 100 HRC!), which additionally strengthens the steel and improves anti-corrosion properties. The coating has anti-reflective properties.
Accurate Knife Dimensions
The dimensions of the Nomad knife determine its very universal use. Accurate length (230 mm), predisposes it to various outdoor use, while the thickness of the head (5 mm), shape and construction materials used make it useful for more serious bushcraft, survival and even tactical activities. The size of the knife will allow for skillfully performing kitchen and camp work (preparing meals, planing, etc. ), but it will also make it possible to perform heavier casual camp tasks (stabbing, punching, etc.).
The Blade Grinds and Shape Designed for Effective Cutting
The blade of the knife presents itself very impressively. In its design, we notice an innovative double grind, partly flat and partly hollow, visible in the form of characteristic grooves on the blade. The part of the blade where the concave grind is located (the concavity is very subtle) is naturally most often used for slicing, trimming, peeling, etc. This type of grind, precisely in this area, provides better cutting properties, reducing, among other things, the sticking effect of the cutting material to the blade. Moving further along the blade, we notice fullers and a false edge, completing the design.
Notably, there is notching (jimping) on the spine of the blade, which facilitates pressing the knife’s edge against the material being cut. This feature enhances precise cutting, aids in guiding the cutting edge through the material, and assists in cuts requiring pressure.
Durable Handle in Distinctive Color Scheme
The slender, sleek oval-shaped handle fits comfortably and securely in the hand, with its subtle contouring helping to prevent slipping onto the cutting edge. The rounded protrusions on each side of the handle’s spine provide a comfortable and secure grip.
The handle scales, ergonomically shaped with a contoured profile, are made from highly durable G10 composite. G10 is resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents, and acids, and it boasts high mechanical strength. In the presented knife, the handle material features a textured pattern to prevent slipping. The handle scales are secured with stainless steel screws, matching the blade’s finish seamlessly.
At the end of the knife’s handle, there is a slot for attaching an additional lanyard (oval-shaped hole), which can serve as a safety measure to prevent dropping the knife during use or as an aid in removing the knife from the sheath. An appropriately matched section of paracord is included for this purpose, adding to the knife’s design.
Holstex Holster
The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Holstex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.
The holster is attached to the belt using a textile loop. It is equipped with pass-through holes that can be optionally used to secure the holster to a backpack or tactical gear using cordage, rope, or paracord. The holster is wrapped with paracord, matching the color of the section near the knife.
For tactical enthusiasts, the knifemaker has designed an optional Kydex buckle that enables mounting on a belt as well as MOLLE-compatible systems*. The buckle is not included as part of the original set but can be purchased separately HERE.
For additional customization options, the knifemaker has designed an angled buckle that allows the knife to be carried in the holster on the belt at a chosen angle, offering a more discreet or pronounced carry style. You can order the buckle HERE.
* The buckle designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To attach the buckle, simply remove the module with textile loop.
