Description

MK Knives & Tools Nomad Tanto “Postapo” knife is a versatile and universal blade. Planned as the first-choice tool for outdoor trips, camping, and extended stays in the wilderness, its modern yet understated design is likely to appeal to a wide range of users. Traditionalists will appreciate its optimal dimensions and shape, which utilize natural hand grooves, while fans of modern solutions will appreciate the materials used in the manufacturing process and the finishing techniques.

The Nomad is the knife that would undoubtedly answer the question of which blade to take when you can only choose one tool (to be able to work with it as universally as possible). Among all MK Knives & Tools models, the Nomad can be used in the most versatile manner.

*The presented Nomad has a blade made of Vanadis 23 steel with great durability in a black DLC coating. The tanto profile knife blade has been made with a grooved (hollow) grind to obtain better cutting properties and its tanto tip is characterized by a flat grind, which together with the bevel on the dorsal side (swedge) emphasizes the knife’s penetrative properties. The blade in the dorsal area is decorated with a double-sided fuller balancing the blade.

**The 4 mm (0.14″) thick blade combined with particularly resistant to overload steel provides excellent cutting properties and resistance during demanding use. The handle linings are made of green G10 composite with turtle G10 inserts. The set includes a black holster made of carbon Holstex with purple additions. The nuances on the blade, the colors of the handle and the pictograms on the holster are characteristic of the “Postapo” series.

“Postapo” Series – Inspiration Matters

“Postapo” is a series inspired by books, TV shows, movies, and the post-apocalyptic world in general. The “Postapo” series stands out with pictograms in the form of a ‘radiation’ symbol, motivating vigilance and preparedness, as well as a ‘skull in a gas mask’ motif. The skull symbolizing the fleeting nature of human life with a gas mask overlay emphasizes the need for equipment upon which the user can rely in a world changed by dramatic circumstances. Sometimes, survival requires more than just the will to endure!

Nomad Knife – Versatility and Universality

The Nomad knife is produced from various types of steel (Elmax, Vanax, Vanadis 4 Extra, Vanadis 23, etc.) with different blade finish methods (PVD coatings, DLC, acid-etched, stonewash, satin). The handle is crafted from G10 composite, micarta, carbon fiber (carbon, FatCarbon) with diverse colors and unique patterns meticulously selected by the knifemaker.

For each knife made, the knifemaker forms a suitable Kydex sheath (etc.), the color scheme of which (sheath and accessories) matches the colors of the blade and handle to create a cohesive set. The materials used determine the knife’s specific applications. For instance, models with black PVD or DLC coatings and Kydex sheaths in dark colors will certainly appeal to fans of military-tactical solutions, especially considering that all sheaths can be mounted to the MOLLE system, harness elements, or tactical backpacks. On the other hand, designs in more vibrant tones will surely cater to the preferences of hiking and outdoor enthusiasts.

Blade Created For Outdoor Life

Premium Steel As A Core of the Knife Construction

**DURABLE CONSTRUCTION**: Nomad is a full-tang knife where the steel runs along entire length and width of the handle.

**STRONG STEEL**: Knife is made of one piece of Vanadis 23 steel. The steel used in the knife is an extremely durable material, very hard, resistant to overload, abrasion and chipping.

**DURABLE COATING**: The knife has been coated with a black DLC titanium coating (Diamond Like Carbon coating with hardness ~90 HRC, maximum in the scale is 100 HRC!), which additionally protect the steel before corrosion. The coating has anti-reflective properties.

Accurate Knife Dimensions

The dimensions of the Nomad knife determine its very universal use. Accurate length (230 mm), predisposes it to various outdoor use, while the thickness of the head (5 mm), shape and construction materials used make it useful for more serious bushcraft, survival and even tactical activities. The size of the knife will allow for skillfully performing kitchen and camp work (preparing meals, planing, etc. ), but it will also make it possible to perform heavier casual camp tasks (stabbing, punching, etc.).

Grind And Blade Shape for Efficient Cutting

**BLADE PROFLE**: The knife blade has been profiled in the tanto style with innovative groove grind (GG / hollow). It is visible at first glance in the form of characteristic grooves on both the correct blade and the false blade. The concavity of the cut is very subtle and, in addition to the visual effect, is designed to support the cutting process (it reduces the effect of the material sticking to the blade and facilitates splitting of the material).

**JIMPING**: On the back of the blade there is a jimpig, which makes it easier to press the blade of the knife to the material being cut. This element enables precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge along the material and helps with cuts that require pressure.

Durable Knife Handle

**THE SHAPE AND DESIGN OF THE HANDLE**: Slender, neat oval of the handle fits very well and lies firmly in the hand. Its gentle profiling helps to prevent the hand from slipping onto the cutting edge. The rounded spine protruding from each side of the handle makes the knife comfortable and secure.

**HOLE FOR LANYARD**: At the end of the knife handle there is a hole for attaching an additional cord, which can be used as a protection against dropping the knife during work, or an additional gripper that facilitates removing the knife from the holster. Originally, it includes a section of paracord in a shade matching the color of the knife.

**HANDLE MATERIALS**: The handle linings are made of G10 compositeG1o is resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, and has high resistance to mechanical damage. In the presented knife, the cover material has a milled pattern that prevents the handle from slipping in the hand. The handle covers have been screwed with steel screws, the finish is consistent with the design of the blade.

Holstex Holster And Personalization Of Carrying Options

**HOLSTEX**. The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Kydex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.

**CARRYING OPTIONS**. The holster is attached to the belt using a textile loop. It is equipped with pass-through holes that can be optionally used to secure the holster to a backpack or tactical gear using cordage, rope, or paracord. The holster is wrapped with paracord, matching the color of the section near the knife.

The sheath allows for customization of how it’s carried. To achieve this, the knifemaker designed:

  • an optional Kydex buckle, which can be mounted on a belt or MOLLE* systems. The clip is not part of the standard set and can be purchased HERE. The clip designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To mount it, first remove the module with the nylon loop.
  • An additional option for customizing carry style is an angled buckle designed by the maker, which allows you to carry the knife on your belt at a chosen angle, either more discreetly or visibly. The clip can be ordered HERE.
*The buckle designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To attach the buckle, simply remove the module with textile loop.
