Description
MK Knives & Tools Rambler “Sylvan” knife is designed for use in the bosom of nature. Forest, mountains, camp etc. are the natural environment for this knife.
When we imagine a man wandering in forest wilderness, carrying a large backpack with strapped, knocking dishes, a sleeping bag, etc., a nature lover going to the desired camp and looking for a knife attached to his belt, we see the Rambler model.
About standards and the knifemaking process at MK Knives & Tools
MK Knives & Tools does not recognize compromises. Each of its products is planned down to the smallest detail, each project, especially the custom one have individual features. Each knife is detaily and clean finished (grinds, chamfering, etc). All screws – even the smallest ones – are gently chamfered to remove angular finishes. Each knife is treated as a separate whole and the holster is treated the same way. One fits the other, the patterns on the holster are consistent with those on the handle, etc. Mirroring every MK Knives & Tools knife we see not only the product, but we “feel” the hours spent in the workshop. When we buy Marcin Kampka’s product, we buy many hours of his work. We can be sure that the knife has been polished to the smallest detail.

About the Rambler knife in general
The Rambler knife is a great tool for a future user. Its fairly large size (260 mm in total), does not give the impression of exaggeration when held in the hand. Its weight is really accurate and does not tire the hand to much. Design of Rambler is highly polished. Attention is drawn to the handle very nicely and ergonomically designed, with a clear gripping line (recess in the handle), which will successfully fit a hand of both smaller and larger sizes. The recess in the handle on the one hand does not force the unnatural position of the fingers on the handle, and on the other hand prevents the knife from slipping out of the hand, even when cutting with a swing.
About the presented version of the Rambler knife
Elmax steel as the core of the knife construction
The presented Rambler is made of one piece of Elmax steel (chrome-vanadium-molybdenum powder steel). It is a full-tang knife, where the handle claddings are attached to the steel structure that runs along the entire length and width of the knife. Elmax is one of the few steels available on the market in the absolute top quality of materials used in the production of premium knives. Knives made of it are extremely resistant to overload, stay sharp for a long time and have excellent anti-corrosion properties.
Grind and blade shape for effective cutting
Rambler knife is made with a flat grind, and the blade is designed as a drop point. A blade with these features is very versatile to use. In the Rambler knife, the blade is quite wide (close to 4 cm), which makes it very durable also under higher overloads. On the back of the blade there is a jimpig, which makes it easier to press the blade of the knife to the material being cut. This element enables precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge along the material and helps with cuts that require pressure.
In the presented version, the blade itself has a satin finish, while the spine has been glassblasted, which harmonizes nicely with each other.
Durable knife handle
The slim, shapely oval of the handle fits very well and lies securely in the hand, its gentle contouring helps to prevent the hand from slipping to the cutting edge. The rounded back protruding from each side of the handle makes holding the knife comfortable and secure.
The ergonomic, revised shape of the handle is made of a very Micarta. Micarta is resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, has a high resistance to mechanical damage. . In the presented knife the cover material has a rough pattern to prevent the handle from slipping in the hand. The handle covers have been screwed with glasblasted steel screws.
At the end of the knife handle there is a hole for attaching an additional wire, which can serve as a protection against dropping the knife during operation, or an additional gripper to facilitate the removal of the knife from the holster. Originally, it includes a paracord section with a shade matching the design.
Smart kydex holster and various mounting options
The knife has a holster made of hand-formed kydex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals. In the presented model, the holster is made of coyote color material (coyote holster and black/brown additions).
We attach the holster to the belt with the use of kydex buckles, which can also be attached to MOLLE solutions. The initial mounting of the buckles allows the entire belt to be mounted vertically. However, it is possible to change the position of the buckles in a way that allows for more discreet horizontal installation (along the belt, on the back or at the front on the hip belt). Then just unscrew the buckles and change their arrangement. Strongly stable fastening (if we prefer it) can be obtained additionally by tying the holster through the through holes in it. Of course, you can use the paracord supply that the holster is wrapped in (its color corresponds to the section at the knife).
