MK Knives & Tools Sentinel “Postapo” is a project created for survival purposes and for users who appreciate equipment with tactical characteristics. Its size (total length 272 mm | 10.71 inches), construction, and materials make it a durable tool dedicated to individuals who demand assurance from their tools that they won’t fail them in crisis situations. Sentinel is ultimately a “guardian” or “caretaker” meant to provide reliable support for the person who operates it.

*The knife features a unique construction. The handle design combines the advantages of both full tang and hidden tang constructions. A wide tang runs through the entire length of the handle (similar to full tang), but it is completely covered by G10 composite scales twisted around it (similar to hidden tang). This construction provides the same level of strength as in a classic full tang but is more comfortable for the hand, especially when working in the cold without gloves, as with hidden tang knives.

**The presented knife has a blade made of extremely durable Vandis 23 steel with excellent hardness (approximately 62 HRC), coated with a black DLC coating. The knife blade with a drop point profile is ground with a grooved grind (subtly hollow) to improve cutting properties, and its tip features a flat grind to enhance the knife’s penetration capabilities. The spine of the blade is distinguished by bilateral fullers.

***The handle scales are made of Green Canvas Micarta with coyote G10 liners. The nuances on the blade, the colors of the handle and the pictograms on the holster are characteristic of the “Postapo” series. The knife comes with OD Green holster made of Kydex with color accents.

“Postapo” Series – Inspiration Matters

“Postapo” is a series inspired by books, TV shows, movies, and the post-apocalyptic world in general. The “Postapo” series stands out with pictograms in the form of a ‘radiation’ symbol, motivating vigilance and preparedness, as well as a ‘skull in a gas mask’ motif. The skull symbolizing the fleeting nature of human life with a gas mask overlay emphasizes the need for equipment upon which the user can rely in a world changed by dramatic circumstances. Sometimes, survival requires more than just the will to endure!

The Sentinel – Reliable Support

Sentinel knife is usually made of steel that can be subjected to high overload (Vanadis 4 Extra, Vanadis 23, Elmax). The knife is designed for intensive use, therefore the steel used in its production must be appropriate. It should withstand high stress, stay sharp for a long time and not chip. Sentinel is made with a variety of blade finishes (PVD coating, DLC coating). The handle is usually made of G10 composite or micarta, with a variety of colors and various original patterns. For each model, the knifemaker creates an appropriate Kydex holster, the colors of which (holster and accessories) correspond to the colors of the blade and the handle so that the whole is a coherent set.

About Presented Sentinel Knife

Premium Steel as the Core of the Knife’s Construction

**STRONG STEEL**: Presented knife is made of one piece of Vanadis 23 tool steel. The steel used in the knife is an extremely durable material, very hard, resistant to overload, abrasion and chipping.

**EXCELLENT COATING**: The knife has been coated with a black DLC titanium coating (Diamond Like Carbon coating with hardness ~90 HRC, maximum in the scale is 100 HRC!), which additionally strengthens the steel and improves anti-corrosion properties. The coating has anti-reflective properties and protects the blade before corrosion.

Grind And Blade Shape for Efficient Cutting 

**BLADE PROFLE**: The knife blade has been profiled in the drop point style with innovative groove grind (GG / hollow). It is visible at first glance in the form of characteristic grooves on both the correct blade and the false blade. The concavity of the cut is very subtle and, in addition to the visual effect, is designed to support the cutting process (it reduces the effect of the material sticking to the blade and facilitates splitting of the material).

**SOLID CONSTRUCTION**: The slightly curved design of the knife (an arc from the end of the handle to the tip of the blade), combined with the contoured and undercut handle, adds a dynamic feel. This shape also helps transfer more force into powerful chopping motions, making it easier to cut through larger pieces of wood if needed.

*JIMPING**: On the back of the blade there is a jimpig, which makes it easier to press the blade of the knife to the material being cut. This element enables precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge along the material and helps with cuts that require pressure.

Durable And Comfortable Handle

**HANDLE DESIGN**: The handle structure is a key feature of the Sentinel knife. It uses a hidden tang construction, but unlike traditional hidden tang knives, it offers durability comparable to full tang models. The wide hidden tang is tightly fitted between two scales, which are securely screwed rather than glued or pressed into a single piece. This design ensures a firm grip while preventing direct contact with the metal, which can be uncomfortable in cold conditions when used without gloves.

The slim, ergonomic handle fits well in the hand, providing a secure grip. A 102 mm (4.02″) undercut section allows for a comfortable hold, even for larger hands.

**HANDLE MATERIALS**. The handle scales are made from Micarta and G10. Both laminates are created using epoxy resin, but they differ in their base materials—Micarta is made with canvas, while G10 is reinforced with fiberglass. In both cases, the materials are produced by compressing the base material and epoxy resin under high pressure. Micarta and G10 are highly resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, and offer excellent durability against mechanical damage. The scales are attached with sturdy Torx screws, which blend seamlessly with the knife’s design. The handle also features a built-in G10 guard, shaped from the scales, to prevent the hand from slipping onto the blade.

**PIN FOR LANYARD**: At the end of the knife handle there is a pin for attaching an additional cord, which can be used as a protection against dropping the knife during work, or an additional gripper that facilitates removing the knife from the holster. This solution also allows you to protect the knife against loss. Originally, a section of paracord with a shade matched to the design was attached to the knife. Pin with paracord attached to it, can be used to attache your favourite ornament e.g. knife bead.

Kydex Holster And Personalization Of Carrying Options

**KYDEX**. The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Kydex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.

**CARRYING OPTIONS**. The holster is attached to the belt using a textile loop. It is equipped with pass-through holes that can be optionally used to secure the holster to a backpack or tactical gear using cordage, rope, or paracord. The holster is wrapped with paracord, matching the color of the section near the knife.

The sheath allows for customization of how it’s carried. To achieve this, the knifemaker designed:

• an optional Kydex buckle, which can be mounted on a belt or MOLLE* systems. The clip is not part of the standard set and can be purchased HERE. The clip designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To mount it, first remove the module with the nylon loop.
• An additional option for customizing carry style is an angled buckle designed by the maker, which allows you to carry the knife on your belt at a chosen angle, either more discreetly or visibly. The clip can be ordered HERE.

*The buckle designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To attach the buckle, simply remove the module with textile loop.

Warranty

Knives are covered by a lifetime warranty. This warranty provides protection against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty applies to both the knife and its sheath. If the product covered by this warranty fails due to a manufacturing defect the producer will repair it without charge, or replace it, at our discretion. Only original, unaltered and unmodified items are covered by this warranty.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, improper care, negligence, normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown of colors and materials over an extended period of time and use. Damage not covered under the warranty may be repaired for a reasonable rate. In such cases, a fee will be also charged for shipping.

Maintenance

1. Remember! Every of our knives are extremely sharp, so be careful when handling them!
2. Do not use your knife for something besides it’s intended purpose! Do not use the knife as a can opener, screwdriver, chisel, hammer, crowbar etc.
3. After using your knife with sea water, blood, fruits or other corrosive mediums, always rinse the knife with fresh water and dry it off.
4. Do not wash the knife with harder chemicals or in the dishwasher. This may damage or destroy the knife.
5. Before storing your knife, apply thin film of high-quality gun oil or special knife oil or wax to knives. We recommend that you always keep your knife and sheath clean and dry when not in use.
6. Always keep your knife sharp, so it can always take care of you.
