MK Knives & Tools – Excellence in Knifemaking
MK Knives & Tools – Marcin Kampka. Knife designer and knifemaker. His knives are characterized by outstanding workmanship and exceptional attention to details. Knives with a highly recognizable line, style and colors are great for a variety of tasks: everyday, survival, bushcraft, tactical and general outdoor. In addition to the usable sphere, the visual setting and the variety of workmanship, especially appreciated by collectors, are of great importance in MK projects. Particular attention should be paid to the treatment of each project as a unique whole. Each knife presents its individual features, but holsters also have their distinguishing features. Holsters are finished as carefully as the knives themselves, which strongly distinguishes them in the knife world. The knifemaker approaches his work with patience and full commitment. Especially the first of these features develops while practicing the fishing hobby, because as we know, nothing refreshes the mind as much as a distraction, even a temporary one that will allow you to relax in a different than everyday environment.

The Spike – Because Sometimes Less Means More
Durable Steel as the Core of Construction
The presented Spike knife is crafted from a single piece of Vanadis 4 Extra steel. It features a full-tang construction (where the steel runs through the entire length and width of the handle). Vanadis 4 Extra is an extremely hard and durable steel, resistant to overloading, abrasion, and chipping, renowned for its incredible sharpness. Due to its properties, this steel is often used in the production of tactical knives designed to work in various, often extreme conditions.
The steel in the presented knife is coated with one of the best coatings available on the market. It is a black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating with a hardness close to 90 HRC (the maximum on the HRC scale being 100). The coating provides anti-reflective properties.
Edge Grinds and Blade Shape for Effective Cutting
An interesting feature of this knife is its innovative hollow grind. It’s immediately noticeable with characteristic grooves present on both the primary and false edges of the blade. The concavity of the grind is subtle and, aside from its visual effect, aims to aid in the cutting process (by reducing material sticking to the blade and facilitating material splitting). Complementing this innovative grind is the blade shape in the wharncliffe style, allowing for full utilization of the cutting edge tip, which is particularly important for precise cuts and piercing materials.
The spine of the blade features jimping, providing better grip and control when pressing the knife blade against the material being cut. This feature enhances precise cutting, facilitates guiding the cutting edge along the material, and assists in tasks requiring pressure during cutting.
Ergonomic Skeleton Handle
The ergonomic skeleton handle securely fits in the hand. All edges located on it have been precisely ground to ensure a fully comfortable grip. Holes in the skeletonized handle, besides aesthetic impressions, serve the purpose of attaching additional sections of paracord. Originally, a section of paracord is placed in the hole at the end of the handle. This solution improves grip, facilitates removing the knife from the sheath, and additionally gives the user the sensation of holding a larger tool in their hand than is actually the case.
Sturdy Holstex Sheath and Various Carrying Options
The knife comes with a sheath made of hand-formed Holstex, known for its high resistance to impacts, scratches, low moisture absorption, resilience to various weather conditions, and many chemicals.
The sheath is attached to the belt using a Kydex buckle, which can be mounted for Molle-type solutions. Initially, the clip allows for vertical attachment of the knife and sheath to the belt. However, it’s possible to adjust the position of the clip for a more discreet horizontal mounting (along the belt, on the back, or in front on a hip belt). In this case, simply unscrew the clip and change its position. For a firmly stable attachment (if preferred), the sheath can be additionally secured by threading through the holes provided. Another way to carry the knife is to place it along with the sheath entirely in a pocket. It’s most convenient to remove the clip beforehand and carry the whole ensemble without it.
Neck Knife for Handy Carry
The Spike is a lightweight knife, perfect for carrying around the neck (as a neck knife). For neck carry, you can use any solution such as paracord, string, chain, etc., which you attach to a specially adapted sheath. It’s important to use a solution that prevents the knife from slipping out of the sheath and getting lost, especially if you’re mounting the knife with the handle facing downwards.
