Steel body and blade

The Bush Axe features a full tang construction, meaning it is made from a single piece of steel running through the entire length and width of the handle, with wooden scales attached.

The handle, made of 1066 carbon steel, has a Scandinavian grind that proves effective for various woodwork and is easy to sharpen. Since the handle is crafted from carbon steel, it’s advisable to clean it thoroughly, wipe it dry, and preferably protect it with wax or knife/axe oil after use to prevent corrosion. Maintenance can be minimized, accepting changes in the steel that add character over time. It all depends on individual preferences.

On the opposite side of the blade, the handle is equipped with a spike, which can be used for piercing wood or performing ground work.

Walnut wood handle

The handle scales are made of walnut wood. This wood has been successfully used for years as a handle material for classic outdoor knives. The handle is coated with Danish oil, which allows this tourist knife to be resistant to moisture and dirt. The handle is fixed with screws, it can be easily unscrewed in order to clean the knife. The end od the handle has a lanyard hole.

Leather belt loop and sheath for the handle

Included with the axe, you will receive a leather belt loop and a leather sheath to protect the handle during transport. Both items are attached separately. The sheath for the handle opens and closes easily and quickly with a snap fastener, and in addition to stitching, the leather has been reinforced to prevent accidental cuts. The leather loop allows for easy belt carrying and enables the convenient removal of the axe.

Maintenance

1. Remember! Every of our knives are extremely sharp, so be careful when handling them!
2. Do not use your knife for something besides it’s intended purpose! Do not use the knife as a can opener, screwdriver, chisel, hammer, crowbar etc.
3. After using your knife with sea water, blood, fruits or other corrosive mediums, always rinse the knife with fresh water and dry it off.
4. Do not wash the knife with harder chemicals or in the dishwasher. This may damage or destroy the knife.
5. Before storing your knife, apply thin film of high-quality gun oil or special knife oil or wax to knives. We recommend that you always keep your knife and sheath clean and dry when not in use.
6. Always keep your knife sharp, so it can always take care of you.
