Description
MK Knives & Tools Venn fits in terms of design and size between Scout and Nomad knives. It’s designed as a very lightweight outdoor knife, perfect for preparing meat, fish, vegetables, and other foods in a camp kitchen, on a camping trip, or while grilling. Venn is the ideal blade for hiking trails and other outings where every gram of gear matters.
**The Featured Venn Knife has a blade made of high-quality Becut stainless steel with a distinctive finish. The blade features a **2-Step Groove Grind**, where the front half near the tip has a fine grooved texture, while the section closer to the handle is thicker with coarser grooves. The thinner front section is perfect for precision work, piercing materials, and food preparation. The thicker portion is more durable and ideal for carving, sharpening sticks, and making tinder for a fire. The spine of the blade is adorned with a double-sided fuller, enhancing balance.
**The handle encasing the tang is made of Black Canvas Micarta and orange G10 composite. The nuances on the blade and pictograms on the sheath are characteristic of the “Postapo” series. The set includes a sheath made of black Kydex with color accents.
“Postapo” Series – Inspiration Matters
“Postapo” is a series inspired by books, TV shows, movies, and the post-apocalyptic world in general. The “Postapo” series stands out with pictograms in the form of a ‘radiation’ symbol, motivating vigilance and preparedness, as well as a ‘skull in a gas mask’ motif. The skull symbolizing the fleeting nature of human life with a gas mask overlay emphasizes the need for equipment upon which the user can rely in a world changed by dramatic circumstances. Sometimes, survival requires more than just the will to endure!
Special 10th Anniversary Logo
The first 20 Venn knives, regardless of materials used, series they belong to, or time they are made, starting with first models from MK Knives & Tools‘ 10th anniversary month in October 2024, are planned to feature a special anniversary logo. The MK logo is incorporated into number 10 and placed in the same spot as standard logo. After these 20 knives are produced, Venn knife will continue with standard logo.
Venn – Design Vision
Venn, designed as a lightweight outdoor blade, features a special construction with a wide hidden tang. The milled handle scales are perfectly fitted to the steel section running through the handle, and everything is held together by stainless steel screws color-matched to the blade. This design ensures excellent balance in terms of weight, comfort, and durability. The reference to a mathematical diagram in the name is no accident. The design blends the knifemaker’s experience, design vision, user feedback, and many other factors.
About the Venn Knife
Premium Steel as the Core of the Knife’s Construction
**EXCEPTIONAL EUROPEAN STEEL**: This knife is crafted from a single piece of Becut steel, a premium material sourced from Germany’s Bestar Steel Group. Becut is excellent for small to medium-sized knives, offering outstanding versatility. As a stainless steel, it is easy to maintain. The addition of niobium refines the steel’s grain structure, enhancing durability, edge retention, and wear resistance.
**UNIQUE BLADE FINISH**: The acid stonewash finish gives the blade a gray hue while adding a signature pattern that makes it stand out. This finish also reduces glare and reflections.
Blade Geometry & Grind for Maximum Cutting Performance
**BLADE PROFILE & GRIND TYPE**: The blade features a classic and versatile drop point profile. It incorporates an innovative 2-Step Double Grind, where the front half has fine grooves for precision work, while the section near the handle is thicker with coarser grooves for added strength. This design makes the knife highly effective for both delicate and heavy-duty tasks, from food prep and piercing to carving and sharpening wood.
**JIMPING**: On the back of the blade there is a jimpig, which makes it easier to press the blade of the knife to the material being cut. This element enables precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge along the material and helps with cuts that require pressure.
Durable and Comfortable Knife Handle
**HANDLE CONSTRUCTION**. The handle design is one of the key features of the Venn knife. The hidden tang, which is hard to compare with traditional designs from that constructions, combines a comfortable grip with the durability of full tang knives (knives with a tang running the entire length and width of the handle). In this case, the hidden tang is wide, and the two scales fit snugly onto it and are securely fastened with screws instead of being glued together into a single piece of handle material. The scales encase the handle, so your hand does not touch the steel, which could be uncomfortable in cold weather or when working without gloves.
**HANDLE FEUTURES**. On the underside of the handle grip, two contoured undercuts are designed to fit the fingers of nearly any hand perfectly. Both standard and reverse grips are very comfortable. The handle features a milled pattern characteristic of MK knives, providing a non-slip surface that improves grip. The handle is equipped with a G10 guard formed from the profile of the handle scales, preventing the hand from slipping onto the blade.
**HANDLE MATERIALS**. The handle scales are made from Micarta and G10. Both laminates are created using epoxy resin, but they differ in their base materials—Micarta is made with canvas, while G10 is reinforced with fiberglass. In both cases, the materials are produced by compressing the base material and epoxy resin under high pressure. Micarta and G10 are highly resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, and offer excellent durability against mechanical damage.
**LANYARD HOLE**. At the end of the knife handle, there is a pin made from G10 for attaching an additional lanyard. This can help prevent dropping the knife during use or provide an extra grip for easier withdrawal from the sheath. This solution also helps secure the knife against loss. A piece of paracord in a color matching the design is originally included with the knife.
Kydex Holster And Personalization Of Carrying Options
**KYDEX**. The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Kydex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.
**CARRYING OPTIONS**. The holster is attached to the belt using a textile loop. It is equipped with pass-through holes that can be optionally used to secure the holster to a backpack or tactical gear using cordage, rope, or paracord. The holster is wrapped with paracord, matching the color of the section near the knife.
The sheath allows for customization of how it’s carried. To achieve this, the knifemaker designed:
- an optional Kydex buckle, which can be mounted on a belt or MOLLE* systems. The clip is not part of the standard set and can be purchased HERE. The clip designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To mount it, first remove the module with the nylon loop.
- An additional option for customizing carry style is an angled buckle designed by the maker, which allows you to carry the knife on your belt at a chosen angle, either more discreetly or visibly. The clip can be ordered HERE.
*The buckle designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To attach the buckle, simply remove the module with textile loop.
