TRC Knives
Lithuanian brand founded by knifemaker Andrius Tricius. The manufactory located in Ukmerge is the workplace of a small but experienced TRC team. Individual works in many cases are carried out manually by qualified team members, the subsequent stages with the use of machines take place under the watchful eye of specialists. All this to maintain the highest standards of manual, precise craft production. By definition, production is limited, and the quality of workmanship is the highest priority of the brand and its founder. The TRC Knives offer includes knives for survival, bushcraft, general outdoor, everyday use (EDC) and tactical tasks made of the best materials available on the market. Knives made by TRC present great usability, and more or less limited editions are desirable in the world of collectors.
Standards of workmanship
The process of making each knife is meticulous and very critical. Any member of the small TRC team during any of the production stages has doubts and notices even a minimal deviation from the established standard – the knife does not leave the workshop. This means that all cuts, roundings, gluing are made with maximum precision and TRC is more likely to agree to a delay in delivery than to “release” an unpolished copy.
This Is Freedom – the best choice to outdoor kitchen
Elmax premium steel
This Is Freedom is a knife with a full tang construction, made of one carefully selected piece of material running the entire length and width of the handle. Knife is made of the highest quality Elmax steel. Elmax is one of the few steels available on the market that are in the absolute top quality of materials used for the production of premium knives. Its best properties are obtained by properly performing the hardening process, in which 3 stages must be flawlessly performed: hardening, cryogenic cooling (freezing) and tempering (more about the manufacturing process of TRC Knives can be found in an interview with Andrius Tricius, which you can read HERE). A properly prepared Elmax blade is extremely resistant to overload, stays sharp for a very long time (wears very slowly) and has excellent anti-corrosion properties.
Versatille blade for universal use
A blade with a 3.5 mm (0.12″) thick spine made in the drop point style will work well in all types of outdoor applications. Woodworking or preparing meals are its natural uses. The blade has a high flat grind, supporting the smooth cutting process and performing various tasks. . There is a jimping on the blade, which provides support for the thumb during cuts that require pressure. The knife has a profiled crossguard, which, together with the finger undercut in the handle, prevents the hand from slipping onto the cutting edge while working. The rounded spine protruding from the handle improves comfort and safe grip. The convex cutting edge is more resistant to chipping and has less cutting resistance.
Ergonomic handle
The handle linings with an ergonomic, oval shape are made of G10 composite. G10 is a material resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, and is highly resistant to mechanical damage. The ribbed handle has a non-slip, rough structure. The linings were glued and mounted with steel tubes consistent with the overall design of the knife. The precisely designed structure makes the handle fit the hand very well and the grip is strong and secure. At the end of the handle there is a hole for attaching an additional rope, which can serve as protection against dropping the knife during work.
Kydex holster
The knife comes with a holster made of hand-formed black Kydex material, which is attached to the belt using a heavy-weight webbing grommet ensuring durability and appropriate flexibility.
To make it easier to remove the knife, which fits very well into the tightly fitting material, a thumb rest is provided, thanks to which we can remove the knife in a controlled and safe manner. Kydex itself is a very durable material that is highly resistant to impacts and scratches, has low moisture absorption, and is resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals. Holsters made of it can be used comfortably and for a long time. The holster is equipped with pass-through pins to which you can attach, for example, a fire starter holder (not included) or use them to attach it to a backpack, harness element or Molle solution, e.g. with paracord.
