About the standards at Sliwkosky Knives
Knifemaker Jakub Sliwka makes knives of various styles. Regardless of their use, be it outdoor or kitchen, it produces knives according to its individual concept, design and material consistent with the intended purpose of each of them. In this way, products of very high quality and accuracy of workmanship are created. All work is done manually using machines adapted to his needs. Production stages, such as cutting the knife shape, hardening, grinding, sharpening, processing the material on the handle and holster, take place in his workshop. The final product is refined with its shape and color and is a solid tool for the future user.
Durable D2 steel as the core of the knife construction
The Bug knife is a full tang design (made of one piece of steel) made of D2 tool steel. D2 is a steel appreciated by many users due to its very good sharpness and easy sharpening when blunted. It is a steel that copes fairly well with the phenomenon of rusting, often referred to as the least rust amongst stainless steels. D2 properly cared for and sharpened works very long and effectively. In the Bug knife, the blade has an acid stonewash finish, giving the steel a gray shade, masking scratches and abrasions caused by subsequent use.
Sheepsfoot blade and skeletonized body
The blade with a 3.1 mm thick back is made in sheepsfoot style and has a flat cut. Sheepsfoot facilitates cutting on flat surfaces due to the easy possibility of pressing the straight cutting edge against the material to be cut. In addition, this type of blade allows easy guidance and control of the tip, which is very useful during cuts that require precision.
The knife has a skeletonized body. The handle has been profiled to fit the hand. In addition, the handle has an undercut for a finger, thanks to which the knife lies more securely in the hand. Thanks to the use of an open skeleton structure, we have the additional option of attaching an additional paracord to the knife itself, or attaching a bead ornament etc. (these elements are not included in the set)
Kydex holster
The knife has a holster made of hand-formed kydex material characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals. In the presented model, the holster is made of coyote material.
