TRC Knives Speed Demon: The Perfect Everyday and Outdoor Knife
TRC Knives Speed Demon knife belongs to the “Tales of Man” series, inspired by famous figures from past eras. It was inspired by the legendary American race car driver Frank Lockhart, known for pushing the boundaries of speed in the 1920s. The creators intended the Speed Demon to be a perfect, compact, efficient, and versatile tool. Despite its medium size, made from premium Elmax steel, it is suitable for “full-sized” tasks and is an ideal everyday carry (EDC) knife. With its skeletonized construction, the Speed Demon has a modern and stylish design. It looks sharp and cuts just as sharp…
The current edition, available for the first time since 2019, is numbered from 1 to 300.
About TRC Knives
TRC Knives is a Lithuanian brand founded by the knifemaker Andrius Tricius. Situated in Ukmerge, their workshop is where a small yet highly experienced team works diligently. The production process often involves skilled artisans performing tasks by hand, followed by machine-based processes overseen by specialists. This meticulous approach ensures the highest standards of precision craftsmanship. TRC Knives limits production intentionally, with quality being the foremost priority for both the brand and its founder. Their product range encompasses knives designed for survival, bushcraft, general outdoor use, everyday carry (EDC), and tactical applications. These knives are crafted from top-quality materials available in the market, making TRC knives highly sought after by collectors.
Uncompromising Quality Standards
At TRC Knives, the creation of each knife is a painstaking and highly critical process. If any member of their small team detects doubts or observes even the slightest deviation from established standards during any production stage, the knife does not leave the workshop. This means that all sharpening, rounding, and assembly processes are executed with maximum precision. TRC values quality over all else and is willing to accept delivery delays rather than release an inadequately finished product.
The Speed Demon Knife: Crafted for Excellence
Premium Steel Selection
The Speed Demon knife boasts a full-tang construction, meticulously crafted from a single carefully selected piece of material that spans the entire length and width of the handle. This exceptional knife is constructed using premium Elmax steel—a chromium-vanadium-molybdenum powdered steel known for its outstanding properties. Elmax is considered one of the top-quality materials available for crafting premium knives. Its exceptional attributes are achieved through a precise heat treatment process, involving three key stages: hardening, cryogenic cooling, and tempering. Well-prepared Elmax steel blades are exceptionally resilient, maintaining sharpness for an extended period, and possess excellent corrosion resistance.
Versatile Blade Design
The Speed Demon features a drop point-style blade with a flat grind, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. The knife’s spine features a gentle contour designed for thumb support, while a groove in the handle aids in preventing hand slippage onto the cutting edge.
Ergonomic Handle Design
The knife’s ergonomic handle boasts an innovative skeletal structure that ensures a secure grip. All edges on the handle are precisely ground to enhance comfort during use. Additionally, the openings in the skeletal structure serve not only aesthetic purposes but also facilitate finger placement for an even more secure grip. They can also accommodate additional accessories such as lanyards or paracord.
Kydex Sheath
The Speed Demon knife comes with a kydex sheath that is hand-molded in black. It attaches to the belt via a urethane-coated webbing loop. This material provides durability and flexibility over a wide range of temperatures. The flexibility is especially beneficial during crouching or bending, as the sheath conforms comfortably to the body, reducing discomfort caused by pressure points or abrasions. To aid in easy knife retrieval, a thumb ramp is incorporated into the kydex sheath, allowing controlled and safe removal of the knife. Kydex is highly durable, known for its resistance to impacts, scratches, low moisture absorption, resistance to various weather conditions, and resistance to various chemicals. Kydex sheaths offer long-lasting and comfortable use. The sheath is equipped with pass-through pins and includes a substantial length of paracord, allowing the knife to be conveniently worn as a neck knife for quick access in demanding situations.
