Description
TR-12s knife made by hand in the TRC Knives workshop. A knife with a very universal design for every day use.
Precision made by TRC Knives
The process of making each knife is meticulous and very critical. Any member of a small TRC team during any of the production stages has doubts and notices even a minimal deviation from the established standard – the knife does not leave the workshop. This means that all grinding, rounding and gluing are performed with maximum precision and TRC will sooner accept a delay in delivery than “release” an unpaired copy.
M390 steel as the core of the knife construction
TR-12s is a knife with a full tang construction (made of one carefully selected piece of material) made of the highest quality M390 steel. M390 is one of the few steels available on the market in the absolute top quality of materials used in the production of premium knives. Its best properties are obtained by proper hardening process, in which 3 stages must be flawlessly carried out: hardening, cryogenic cooling (freezing) and tempering (more about the TRC Knives manufacturing process can be found in an interview with Andrius Tricius, which you can read here). A properly prepared Elmax blade is extremely resistant to overload, remains sharp for a long time (it wears very slowly) and has excellent anti-corrosion properties.
A universal blade for any challenge
The blade with a 3.7 mm thick spine made in the drop point style will work well in all kinds of survival and camping applications. We will use the flat grind blade very universally for preparing meals or for more demanding tasks. The blade features jimping, which is a support for the thumb during cuts that require the use of greater force. The knife has a contoured handguard, which, together with the undercut for the finge, prevents the hand from slipping onto the cutting edge during work and generally improves grip during more vigorous work.
Robust ergonomic handle
Lining of the handle with an ergonomic, oval shape is made of G10 composite resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, having high resistance to mechanical damage. The material has a non-slip, rough structure that makes the grip more stable. The linings were installed permanently. They have been glued and screwed with decorative stainless steel screws, in an appearance consistent with the general design of the knife. The screws are permanently installed, do not unscrew them yourself, so as not to void the warranty. The whole well-thought-out design makes the handle fits very well to the hand and the grip is firm and secure. At the end of the handle, there is a hole for attaching an additional cord, which can be used as a protection against dropping the knife during work, or an additional gripper that makes it easier to remove the knife from the holster.
Durable Kydex holster
In the set with the knife, we get a black Kydex holster with the buckle to the belt. To make it easier to remove the knife, which fits tightly into the tightly fitting material, a thumb support is planned, thanks to which the knife can be removed in a controlled and safe manner. Kydex itself is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, low moisture absorption, resistance to various weather conditions and many chemicals. Holsters made of it are used comfortably and for a long time.
