About Trollsky Knives
Trollsky Knives – Michael Trollsky. One of the most renowned Polish knifemakers, widely recognized in Poland and highly appreciated internationally. A regular participant in the world’s most prestigious knife shows, including the American “Blade Show.” A connoisseur of whiskey, fine cigars, and the roar of an engine. A man of rich personality, friendly demeanor, and an excellent sense of humor. He forges, shapes, forms, grinds, and etches steel in the fire, delivering knife enthusiasts products with a distinctive chili pepper motif on the blade. His recognizable designs, known for their richness of shapes and colors, are sought after in numerous buying races. As he himself says, “A good, fully functional knife is one you can work with for two hours, and nothing bothers your hand.” This is how he strives to design his knives, and he imparts such guidance to his students, who have the opportunity to create their own knives under his watchful eye through the “Trollsky Knifemaking Academy.”
Trollsky Knives for a Broader Audience
Due to the inherently artisanal nature of Trollsky’s knife craftsmanship, these blades are produced in very limited quantities. Hence the idea to make his work accessible to a wider audience by introducing a production line designed by the knifemaker himself. According to the creator’s conviction, most tasks can be accomplished with smaller to medium-sized knives, ensuring maneuverability and full functionality. This concept materialized with the introduction of the first compact folding knife, Mandu, produced by the renowned company Bestech Knives, known for its excellent standards and collaboration with numerous Polish knifemakers.
Folding Knife – Mandu for Your EDC
Mandu is the folding version of one of the more recognizable designs from Trollsky Knives, sharing its name with a fixed-blade knife. The broad, leaf-shaped blade and the ergonomically contoured handle make it a handy tool for everyday use. Mandu is a folder for everyone. When folded, it discreetly fits in the hand like a classic pocket knife, and when the blade is open, it doesn’t elicit mixed feelings among onlookers. Whether at a barbecue, in the park, on a stroll, in the forest, or on vacation—wherever the need arises for food preparation and various tasks, Mandu excels.
Utility Blade in Easy-to-Maintain Steel
The blade of the Mandu knife features a versatile drop-point profile. Crafted from D2 tool steel, it exhibits excellent cutting properties, high resistance to wear, and mechanical damage. D2 steel, often hailed as one of the least prone to rust, is low-maintenance, making it a favorite among users for its desirable attributes.
Located on the blade is jimping, serving as thumb support for tasks requiring pressure or precise cuts (such as cutting along a ruler).
Smooth Opening via Flipper and Double Detent Lock
The Mandu knife opens effortlessly with the protruding flipper, which, when the blade is deployed, acts as a finger guard, protecting against slipping onto the cutting edge. The knife unfolds smoothly and seamlessly, thanks to its ceramic ball bearings. It features an automatic, self-adjusting double detent lock that holds the blade in the open position during deployment. Releasing the lock is straightforward—simply fold the knife and press the blade. The lock serves an additional purpose: keeping the blade securely closed and preventing accidental openings during transport, among other scenarios. The one-handed opening method and easy handling position Mandu among the realm of modern folders.
Durable Handle with Micarta
The handle scales are crafted from resilient micarta, a popular material for handles that provides a natural appearance after styling. It’s a material that is both versatile and inherently non-uniform in character. Despite having a specific base color, micarta covers exhibit various shades that somewhat blend into the main color. Over time and with use, micarta tends to darken or change its hue, and these are entirely natural occurrences for this material. Similar to G10, micarta boasts excellent practical properties—it’s resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents, and acids, and it has high resistance to mechanical damage.
The ergonomically shaped handle fits the hand exceptionally well, providing a stable and firm grip. The scales are reinforced with a stainless steel backspacer, color-matched to the blade. At the end of the knife, a designed lanyard hole is included for attaching a paracord or lanyard. It can also be used to add an additional ornament, such as a bead.
Steel Clip for Safety Carrying
The steel clip ensures stable knife carry in the pocket, attachment to a backpack, pouch, belt, etc., contributing to minimizing the risk of losing the tool. It is a Tip-Up clip, located at the end of the knife handle, allowing for carrying the closed blade with the tip upward.
