Description
MK Knives & Tools Scout brings together two worlds – EDC and outdoor. Lightweight and handy, it’s the perfect companion for short trips into the wild and trekking adventures, designed for those who appreciate the practicality of a fixed-blade knife in everyday use.
In the presented “Fear The Bear” edition, it features:
- A drop point blade made of premium European Elmax steel, with a natural bead-blasted finish and a hollow grind for enhanced cutting performance,
- Handle scales crafted from a unique micarta-family material called Richlite, in the ‘Slane’ colorway,
- A Kydex sheath in light brown (FDE Fall) with a brown clip and an olive (OD green) nylon belt loop. The sheath is adorned with pictograms characteristic of the “Fear The Bear” series.
‘Fear The Bear’ Series – A Tribute to Nature
The ‘Fear The Bear’ series was created by MK Knives & Tools out of a need to show respect for wildlife. The bear head symbol on the sheath is not just a decoration – it is a sign to remember that people are guests in the natural world. Forests, mountains and plains have their inhabitants. Just like paw prints on the ground, MK knives from this series feature a bear paw print – a symbol of responsible presence in the field.
About Scout Knife In General
Scout knife is made of various types of steel (Elmax, Vanadis 4 Extra, Vanadis 23), with different blade finishes (PVD coating, DLC coating, stonewash, satin, glassblasting). The handle is usually made of G10 composite (or micarta), with a variety of colors and a variety of original patterns, including those created by filling the designed cavities with resin in a color also selected by the knifemaker. For each model, the knifemaker creates an appropriate kydex holster, the colors of which (holster and accessories) correspond to the colors of the blade and the handle so that the whole is a coherent set.
About Presented Scout Knife
**EXCELLENT EUROPEAN ELMAX STEEL**: The knife’s construction is based on excellent, high-quality Elmax steel, known worldwide in the knife industry, sourced from European UDDEHOLM mills. Elmax steel blades offer outstanding performance features: long-lasting sharpness, corrosion resistance, and reliable durability, including high wear resistance and strong resistance to mechanical damage.
Scout Knife Dimensions
Dimensions of the Scout knife predispose it to everyday and outdoor use. The whole 203 mm (7.99″) long and discreet 85 mm (3.45″) blade is perfect when preparing a meal, wood planing, or opening a cardboard package. The compact size of the knife itself, but also the whole with a holster, allows for free and unobtrusive transfer from place to place and not restrict movement, etc.
Grind And Blade Shape for Efficient Cutting
**BLADE PROFILE AND GRIND TYPE**: An interesting fact in the execution of the knife is the innovative hollow grind. It is visible at first glance in the form of characteristic grooves on both the correct blade and the false blade. The concavity of the cut is very subtle and, in addition to the visual effect, it is designed to support the cutting process (it reduces the effect of the material sticking to the blade and facilitates splitting of the material). The grind in combination with the shape of the drop point blade indicates that it can be used very universally. The tip with a flat grind enhances the blade’s penetration capabilities.
**JIMPING**: On the back of the blade there is a jimpig, which makes it easier to press the blade of the knife to the material being cut. This element enables precise cuts, makes it easier to guide the cutting edge along the material and helps with cuts that require pressure.
Durable Knife Handle
**THE SHAPE AND DESIGN OF THE HANDLE**: Slender, neat oval of the handle fits very well and lies firmly in the hand. Its gentle profiling helps to prevent the hand from slipping onto the cutting edge. The rounded spine protruding from each side of the handle makes the knife comfortable and secure.
**HOLE FOR LANYARD**: At the end of the knife handle there is a hole for attaching an additional cord, which can be used as a protection against dropping the knife during work, or an additional gripper that facilitates removing the knife from the holster. Originally, it includes a section of paracord in a shade matching the color of the knife.
**HANDLE MATERIAL**: Richlite is a composite material made from resin-infused paper that’s compressed under high pressure. It’s extremely durable, moisture-resistant, lightweight, and easy to clean. Richlite also resists stains and provides a solid, grippy feel — even when wet. Over time, it develops an elegant, slightly satin-like patina that adds character.
In this knife, the grip material has a roughened pattern that prevents the handle from slipping in your hand. The grip grips are secured with steel Torx screws. The screws complement the knife’s design, elegantly matching the blade’s color.
Holstex Holster And Personalization Of Carrying Options
**HOLSTEX**. The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Kydex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.
**CARRYING OPTIONS**. The holster is attached to the belt using a textile loop. It is equipped with pass-through holes that can be optionally used to secure the holster to a backpack or tactical gear using cordage, rope, or paracord. The holster is wrapped with paracord, matching the color of the section near the knife.
The sheath allows for customization of how it’s carried. To achieve this, the knifemaker designed:
- an optional Kydex buckle, which can be mounted on a belt or MOLLE* systems. The clip is not part of the standard set and can be purchased HERE. The clip designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To mount it, first remove the module with the nylon loop.
- An additional option for customizing carry style is an angled buckle designed by the maker, which allows you to carry the knife on your belt at a chosen angle, either more discreetly or visibly. The clip can be ordered HERE.
*The buckle designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To attach the buckle, simply remove the module with textile loop.
