Description
Sandrin Knives Monza Titanium Folding Knife | Tungsten Carbide Blade 71 HRC is an innovative project of an Italian manufacturer with definitely unusual parameters.
Knife comes with a carbide blade specially designed for the Sandrin Knives brand by the leading carbide producer, the Italian company Turmond S.p.A. The blade with an amazing hardness of 71 HRC, made of Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide (PTC), retains unprecedented flexibility in this type of material and impressively long-lasting sharpness (StaySharp ™ technology). The result of combining an elegant carbon fiber handle with a red composite spacer, brass pins and a Holstex carbon holster has become an extremely sharp and exclusive “gentleman’s knife” blade.
Sandrin Knives and StaySharp™ Technology
Sandrin Knives brand founded by specialists in the production of tungsten carbide, the Italian company Turmond S.p.A. hit the knife market. The factory with over 40 years of experience, setting trends in the production of various types of carbide, used in many industries, this time tried its strength in the production of an innovative type of carbide intended for the production of knife blades (Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide – PTC). The project was a complete success and the knives of unprecedented hardness (71 HRC) with excellent sharpness (StaySharp ™ technology) lasting longer than in the case of other brands have become a permanent fixture on the market. The idea of carbide knives, its creator Alessandro Colombatto, summarized briefly as follows: “With an outstanding hardness of HRC 71, simply put, they’re nothing short of the hardest and most durable knife blades that have ever been made.”
Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide (PTC) with unexpected flexibility
Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide (PTC) was invented by Sandrin founder, Alessandro Colombatto and his team.
Polyhedral Tungsten Carbide (PTC) is composed of tungsten carbide and cobalt along with binder elements that have been used for decades in a variety of industrial applications, for example, crafting superior steel-cutting tools. However, traditional grades of tungsten carbide are brittle, so creating a durable knife blade from this material was previously thought to be impossible. Sandrin’s patented flexible PTC has solved this problem. In fact, our blades are so hard you can use the back edge of a Sandrin Knives to sharpen traditional steel knives.
Blade characteristic
The blade has a proprietary finish adapted to the properties of carbide. The “raw carbide” finish is obtained by grinding the blade with fine diamonds. The blade of the knife is completely stainless, making it suitable for both fresh and sea water.
Gentleman’s Fixed Blade and exclusive execution
The knife is designed as a “gentleman’s knife” blade. The light, thin and extremely sharp blade fits perfectly with the carbon fiber handle and Holstex carbon holster. The handle with hidden tang cunstruction was assembled by brass pins, and at its end there was a through pin (sleeve) used to attach a paracord or any decoration, e.g. a bead (not included in the set). The holster is attached thanks to a black, representative, shiny black clip and can be carried more discreetly in a trouser pocket or on a belt.
Sandrin Gentleman’s Fixed Blade is a handy tool for everyday use with features of a collector’s knife. The blade is recommended especially where precise, flawless cuts are needed. The knife is not recommended for heavy work and overloading of the blade should be avoided. Its main advantage is sharpness and it should be freely used.
