Description
TRC Knives Polheim 15th Anniversary Edition Knife. Polheim – “Home at the Pole” designed and manufactured to perform various tasks in the field. Its name emphasizes its very utilitarian character and its design and features confirm its universality.
Special 15th Anniversary Edition from TRC Knives
A unique anniversary edition of the bestselling Polheim from TRC Knives. A satin-finished blade made from exceptional RWL-34 steel, engraved with a special 15th-anniversary mark. Handle scales crafted from exclusive polished Micarta in a rusty chestnut shade (Maroon Micarta), paired with a light brown leather sheath featuring the embossed TRC logo. The classic drop point blade design includes a characteristic swedge on the spine.
A keen eye will recognize the birth of an anniversary tradition—back on TRC’s 10th anniversary, a similarly styled version of the bestselling South Pole was released. For longtime TRC Knives fans, collecting these anniversary editions is becoming the start of a mini collection worth waiting for, especially as future milestones like the 20th, 25th, or 30th approach.
Design Evolution: K-1s – South Pole – Polheim
The Polheim knife is an evolution of the previously offered K-1s, a great all-purpose blade from TRC. Compared to the K-1s, the Polheim features a slightly thinner blade and a higher grind line, improving cutting efficiency. The subtle reduction in blade thickness (from 3.8 mm | 0.15″ to 3.5 mm | 0.12″) further enhances its already excellent performance. The enlarged choil makes sharpening even easier, and the new-style jimping on the spine echoes the best features of the South Pole knife. The handle has also been updated—while retaining a secure grip, the new texture distinguishes it from the older K-1s design.
TRC Knives – World-Class Craftsmanship from Lithuania
TRC Knives is a Lithuanian brand founded by knifemaker Andrius Tricius. The TRC workshop is located in Ukmergė. Many steps in the knifemaking process are done by hand by skilled craftsmen, while machine-assisted stages are carried out under close supervision. This approach ensures the highest standards of handmade precision manufacturing. Production is intentionally limited, with build quality being the top priority of the brand and its founder. TRC Knives offers premium knives for survival, bushcraft, general outdoor use, everyday carry (EDC), and tactical applications—crafted from the finest materials available. TRC knives combine excellent functionality with collector-level appeal, whether in regular or limited runs.
Polheim and the Exceptional RWL-34 Steel
**FULL TANG CONSTRUCTION**: The knife features full tang construction, meaning it’s made from a single, carefully selected piece of material running through the full length and width of the handle, crafted from premium-grade powder metallurgy RWL-34 steel.
**RWL-34**: This powder metallurgy stainless steel was developed by Damasteel (Sweden), based on the classic ATS-34/154CM formula, but refined using modern powder metallurgy technology. The name honors legendary knifemaker R.W. Loveless, who popularized the alloy.
**STEEL FEATURES**: RWL-34 is a stainless steel known for excellent corrosion resistance and solid edge retention (though not extreme). It performs well in smaller (EDC) and medium-sized (outdoor) knives and is also popular in collectible blades due to its ease of maintenance. It’s relatively easy to sharpen and pairs well with satin or mirror finishes.
A Versatile Outdoor Knife
**UNIVERSAL BLADE**: The drop point blade with a high flat grind offers versatile functionality. The handle fits comfortably and securely in hand, with finger contours and a small guard to help prevent accidental slipping onto the edge. The rounded spine extending beyond both sides of the handle improves grip awareness, increasing safe handling. Jimping on the spine provides thumb support for pressure cuts.
**DURABLE HANDLE**: The handle scales are made from Micarta—a moisture-resistant material that withstands temperature changes, most solvents and acids, and offers high mechanical durability. Micarta’s textured, non-slip surface enhances grip. The handle also features steel tubular pins for structural reinforcement (in addition to adhesive bonding) and can be used for lanyard attachments.
**ELEGANT LEATHER SHEATH**: The knife comes with an exclusive, fully handmade leather sheath crafted from high-quality vegetable-tanned Italian leather. Its golden-brown hue perfectly complements the knife’s design.
