Description
TRC Knives M-1SL knife Apocalyptic, strategically positioned among the models in the “M” line from the Lithuanian manufacturer, is a transfer of the best features of a tactical knife to meet the needs of a wide range of users involved in various outdoor activities. The M-1SL is a sturdy tool for bushcraft enthusiasts, forest camping, various forms of forest and mountain tourism, and more. An experienced eye will recognize design features reminiscent of the Mille Cuori or M-1SLG, such as the lack of jimping on the spine of the blade, but with this part adapted for efficient use with a ferro rod. The spine has sharp edges for efficiently striking sparks, but their degree of sharpness does not pose a risk of accidental cuts. Like all knives in the “M” line, the handle has grooves on the underside near its end and on the opposite side near the dorsal area closer to the blade. These nuances significantly affect the excellent grip of the knife and the stable handling of the tool in hand. The handle is finished with a protruding segment of steel beyond its outline, which can serve as a crusher or pommel, as in the M-1XDP.
The innovation in the design of the M-1SL Apocalyptic is the abandonment of the current black coating found in most knives in the “M” series, in favor of a freaky full of colors finish. Coupled with the use of premium M390 steel, the knife achieves corrosion resistance valued by many users, with a finish that emphasizes the elegance of natural steel. The knife features a handle made of classic Black Canvas Micarta, providing top-tier durability during use. The M-1SL comes complete with a black Kydex sheath.
TRC Knives – World Quality from Lithuania
Lithuanian brand founded by knifemaker Andrius Tricius. The manufactory located in Ukmerge is the workplace of a small but experienced TRC team. Individual works in many cases are carried out manually by qualified team members, the subsequent stages with the use of machines take place under the watchful eye of specialists. All this to maintain the highest standards of manual, precise craft production. By definition, production is limited, and the quality of workmanship is the highest priority of the brand and its founder. The TRC Knives offer includes knives for survival, bushcraft, general outdoor, everyday use (EDC) and tactical tasks made of the best materials available on the market. Knives made by TRC present great usability, and more or less limited editions are desirable in the world of collectors.
Standards of Workmanship – Quality Control
The process of making each knife is meticulous and very critical. Any member of the small TRC team during any of the production stages has doubts and notices even a minimal deviation from the established standard – the knife does not leave the workshop. This means that all cuts, roundings, gluing are made with maximum precision and TRC is more likely to agree to a delay in delivery than to “release” an unpolished copy.
M-1SL – An Excellent Field Tool
Steel for Demanding Tasks
The M-1SL is a full tang knife, where the steel runs through the entire length and width of the handle, to which the scales are attached. Full tang construction is the most durable type of construction found in fixed-blade knives. The base material of the knife is the excellent BÖHLER M390 MICROCLEAN steel. Austrian M390 is one of several steels available on the market that are at the absolute top in terms of quality materials used for producing premium knives. The blade made of M390 steel is extremely resistant to overloads, remains sharp for an incredibly long time (wearing down very slowly), and has excellent corrosion-resistant properties.
Universal Blade for Various Tasks
The blade made in the drop point style, finished with a flat grind, is universally applicable. In the case of the M1-SL, the blade is dedicated to any type of work, including the more demanding ones, such as battening wood, piercing, etc. Efficient handling of the knife is supported by the ergonomically designed handle, in which in contact with the blade we find a corrugation that provides additional finger support for cuts requiring precision or pressure. Similar notching can be found on the back of the blade, which serves as an alternative or additional support, if you want to press the knife with both hands. The knife has a hand guard profiled from steel and covered with micarta, which helps to avoid the hand slipping onto the cutting edge, which is extremely important, especially with compact size knives, because in more demanding works, we usually use it more vigorously.
Durable and Comfortable Handle
The handle linings with an ergonomic, oval shape are made of Micarta, resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, with high resistance to mechanical damage. Micarta has a non-slip, milled structure. In the linings there are through-pins, which on the one hand are used to attach them (except for gluing) and on the other they are used to attach an additional cord, which can be used as protection against dropping the knife during work, or an additional gripper to facilitate removing the knife from the holster.
Solid Kydex Holster
The knife has a holster made of hand-molded Kydex material, characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals. To facilitate the removal of the knife, which fits very well in the tight-fitting material, a thumb support has been planned, thanks to which the knife can be removed in a controlled and safe manner. The holster can be attached to the belt – using a grommet made of durable nylon with a heavy weight. The holster has a cord for alternative forms of carrying on parts of the harness, back, parts of the MOLLE system, etc. The cord stretches like rubber and does not lose its elasticity (does not damage, does not break) even in extreme (negative and positive) weather conditions.
