Description
PG Knives | Piotr Gosciniak Compact Tanto “Coleus”
Compact Tanto is a blade with a wide range of applications. Made at the junction of various styles (“fusion”) will be found in tactical use, hounting use and general outdoor applications. Japanese and European inspirations, Polish workmanship detail and the spirit of American freedom. Compact Tanto is chic and balance, it is the bilateral symmetry of the blade and handle! The Compact Tanto is knife freestyle! This is a nod to users who love unusual things and unique style.
The knife boasts a excellent premium Elmax steel blade with a two-tone finish (satin and sandblasted). The blade features a double-sided fuller. The handle is crafted from tan/olive G10 composite with red spacers made of the same material. The knife comes with an olive Kydex sheath with a tek-lok buckle.
PG Knives – Reliability and Diversity
PG Knives stand out for their designs that balance a variety of styles. The intricate grinds on the blades, described as “fusion,” are details that the knifemaker particularly enjoys and meticulously refines. The combination of precise craftsmanship, modern materials, and futuristic shapes provides a unique value appreciated by users worldwide. PG Knives are designed with intensive use in mind. In the workshop, most of the work is done by hand or with manually operated machines. The entire process, from cutting the initial shape of the steel to heat treating and grinding, is carried out by the knifemaker himself. This also applies to working with handle materials (G10, micarta, carbon fiber, etc.) and sheaths (Kydex). The knifemaker’s range includes blades for everyday carry (EDC), outdoor activities, survival, and tactical use. The distinctive features of the latter category can be found in almost every project.
Compact Tanto – Handy, Stylish, Robust
Excellent Elmax Steel
The Cayman is a full-tang knife, crafted from a single, carefully selected piece of material to which the handle scales are attached.
The knife’s construction is based on the outstanding, globally renowned premium steel – Elmax, sourced from the European steel mills of the UDDEHOLM group. Elmax steel blades offer excellent utility features: long-lasting sharpness, corrosion resistance, and reliable durability in the form of high wear resistance and significant mechanical damage resistance.
Blade for Every Kind of Tasks
The knife blade made in the tanto style will prove very versatile in any type of work. The tanto blade will facilitate piercing and the slightly beaded cutting edge to prepare meals. Hollow grind will support the effective cutting process.
On the back of the blade you will find jimping, which is a support for the thumb during cuts that require pressure. On the other side of the handle you will find a notch on its underside. You can feel both notches when holding the knife in your hand. These are the elements that facilitate the location of the handle and the blade in relation to the hand. When we are dealing with a structure without hollows in the handle, without a finger cut, without a handguard or a guard, it is a particularly important aspect in terms of safety of use. Following this, the handle without “limitations”, drawing on the ancient patterns, allows it to be gripped at any angle and in any position and does not limit the user’s preferences in any way.
Ergonomic and Grippy G10 Handle
Linings of the handle with an ergonomic shape is made of G10 composite resistant to moisture, temperature changes, most solvents and acids, having high resistance to mechanical damage. The linings were screwed with screws consistent with the general design of the knife. The linings are profiled to ensure a secure grip, regardless of whether we work with or without a glove. At the end of the handle there is a hole for a paracord. Originally a section of paracord was woven into it, which improves the grip of the whole and makes it easier to remove the knife from the sheath.
Kydex Sheath
Knife comes with a sheath made of hand-formed Kydex material, which is attached to the belt with a tek-lok buckle. The buckle can be mounted horizontally (along the belt) or vertically. Kydex itself is a very durable material that is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, low moisture absorption, resistance to various weather conditions and many chemicals. Holsters made of it are used comfortably and for a long time. The holster is equipped with through pins to which you can attach, for example, a tinder holder (not included) or use them to attach it to a backpack, harness element or a Molle solution.
